About Aa
Ba Ka Da
AaBaKaDa
is a cultural group. The alphabets represent an initial introduction
to the Marathi language. New learners of the language grapple with
these letters in their infancy. The group would like to use this
very same concept to help initiate audiences to experiment and
experience the ecstasy of theatre, music and dance.
Once upon a time, the city of Sangli was known as 'Natya Pandhari'.
Unfortunately, Sangli of `Natyapandhari’ fame had disappeared.
It was a time when disappointed theatre lovers turned their back on
drama, music and dance in despair. We came together to fill this
void. Deep down we knew that music is the need of any society. Under
the visionary leadership of
Hon. Jayantrao Patil we started the AaBaKaDa cultural group in 1990.
On
November the sixth 1990 the organization was inaugurated by eminent
theatre personality Shri Nilu Phule and distinguished dramatist Late
Shri Vasant Kanetkar. AaBaKaDa is an organization committed to
preserve the tradition of the performing arts both old and new. This
is an appeal for financial assistance to support our endeavor to
construct the ‘Aa Ba Ka Da’- The Creative Arts Center complex in
Sangli.
Mission Statement
We
dream of a space that will provide a bridge between cultures both
ancient and modern that
will blend the unique and innovative with the old and traditional
that will help the young to learn and explore multiculturalism
that will nourish the language of music, dance and drama
Rationale
‘Aa Ba Ka Da’- The Creative Arts Center is an effort to connect
common people to the music traditions of their glorious past.
`Natyapandhari’ as Sangli was once known has been unable to provide
proper facilities for performing artists and has thus denied the
people of this city any experience of their glorious traditions of
drama, music and dance. Our dream is to give back to the theatre
lovers of Sangli their glorious Natyapandhari.
Objectives
Our main objective is to connect common people to the music
traditions of their glorious past and introduce them to the fresh
young talent of the present.
To preserve the tradition of the Performing Arts.
Our endeavor is to construct the ‘Aa Ba Ka Da’- Creative Arts Center
complex in Sangli.
